Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 15, 2026

1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy applies to the ScamDefend iOS app and this website. ScamDefend is a private verification tool for families and other trusted relationships. It helps you confirm sensitive requests using a shared phrase with someone you have invited and who has accepted.

We operate from Ontario, Canada. For privacy questions, email play3dinc@gmail.com or call 905-979-8389. We typically reply within 5–10 business days.

2. What ScamDefend does — and does not do

You create an account, invite a loved one by email, and if they accept, you each receive a unique shared verification phrase for that relationship. You can rotate the phrase when you want a new one. If a call, text, or email feels suspicious, you can contact that person independently and use the phrase as an extra check before you send money, share a code, or change an account.

ScamDefend does not monitor your calls or messages. It does not automatically detect scams. It does not contact banks, police, or emergency services. It does not guarantee that you will not be scammed. It is not a public social network.

3. Information we collect

Account information. Name, email address, password or other sign-in credential, and an internal account ID so you can use the app.

Trusted circle. Who you invite, invitation status (pending, accepted, or denied), and which relationships are active. Each accepted pair can have its own phrase.

Verification phrases. The shared phrase for each accepted relationship, including version history if you rotate it. Phrase data is encrypted before it is stored. This is encryption at rest, not end-to-end encryption.

Email. Used to create your account, send invitations, and answer support or privacy requests.

Technical information. App version, device type, and operating system version as needed to run the app, fix bugs, and help you if something breaks. We do not sell this data or use it for advertising profiles.

This website. If you visit our marketing site, your browser may send standard log data (such as pages viewed and approximate location derived from IP) through hosting. We do not run advertising pixels on the ScamDefend pages for the purpose of selling your data.

We do not ask for your bank passwords, government ID, or payment card details to use ScamDefend’s verification features.

4. How we use information

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your phrases or trusted-circle list to advertise to you or to third parties.

5. How phrases are protected

Phrase data is encrypted before storage using industry-standard encryption at rest. A phrase is meant only for the two people in that trusted relationship, through the app. Treat phrases like a household code: do not post them publicly. Rotate a phrase if you think someone else has seen it.

Encryption at rest means stored copies are encrypted. It does not mean that no one in our infrastructure can ever access data. We do not claim end-to-end encryption, bank-grade security, or military-grade encryption.

6. Who we share information with

We share information only as needed to run ScamDefend:

We are not affiliated with banks, police, government agencies, or emergency services.

7. How long we keep information

We keep account, invitation, and phrase records while your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we aim to remove your personal data and trusted-circle records within 30 days, unless a short record must be kept to meet a legal requirement (for example, a completed deletion request log).

Support emails are typically kept only as long as needed to resolve your request, generally up to 12 months.

8. Your choices and rights

You can sign out, rotate a phrase, deny or stop using a trusted-circle relationship, and request access, correction, or deletion of your information. In Canada you have rights under applicable privacy law, including PIPEDA, to know what we hold and to ask that it be corrected or deleted, subject to limited legal exceptions.

To exercise these rights, email play3dinc@gmail.com from the email on your account. We typically respond within 5–10 business days and complete deletion within about 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

9. Security

We use reasonable safeguards: encrypted storage of phrase data, access limited to operating the service, and HTTPS for this website. No internet service is perfectly secure. Protect your device passcode and do not share your ScamDefend sign-in details.

10. Children

ScamDefend is for people 13 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child under 13 has an account, email us and we will delete it.

11. International users

We operate from Canada. Your information may be stored or processed in Canada and in other countries where our hosting or email providers operate, including the United States. Those countries may have different privacy laws than your own. By using ScamDefend you understand that your information may be transferred in this way so we can provide the service.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a material way, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy. If a change requires consent under law, we will ask for it.
